Five-Spot Challenge: Peach Bowl

Thanks to a chance meeting with a former Five-Spot Challenge winner last week, I’m bringing it back for the bowl game. I was on a work trip to Austin, standing in line at Franklin Barbecue last Tuesday when it turned out a guy in line behind me was a reader of Maize and Go Blue. You don’t go to the hottest barbecue joint in the country and expect a stranger to know who you are, but I’m glad he encouraged me to get it going again.

If you’ve never played, or if you just need a reminder, here’s how it works: Below are a few questions related to this week’s game. Just fill out the form below, enter your predictions for each question, and hit submit. The goal, obviously, is to be as close as possible to the actual result for each question. After the game, I’ll tally up everyone’s deviation from the actual result, and the contestant with the lowest score (closest combined deviation) will win.

For this week’s prize I’m going to give away a Lane’s BBQ prize pack containing any combination of 4.6-ounce rubs and/or 13.5-ounce sauces up to a total of six (approximate value of $50). Six sauces, or six rubs, or three of each, or any other combination you want. If you’ve been following our weekly Tailgate Tuesday recipe posts throughout the season you know how great Lane’s BBQ products are. Plus, they’re local to Atlanta, where the Peach Bowl is held, so if you’re in town for the game you can purchase Lane’s rubs and sauces at ACE Hardware locations or Atlanta Grill Company.
